The Conservatives have announced Hannah Campbell as their candidate for the Telford constituency at the next general election.

The current Conservative MP for Telford, Lucy Allan, announced in June she would be standing down.

Ms Allan was first elected in 2015 and was the first Tory as well as the first woman to win the seat.

Labour has chosen Telford and Wrekin Council leader Shaun Davies as its candidate.

Telford Conservative Association said Ms Campbell has run successful retail businesses and is now a mentor to female entrepreneurs.

Association chair Nigel Dugmore said: “Hannah is a fantastic candidate and will be a strong voice for Telford residents in Parliament.”

The party described her as a digital skills expert, who was first inspired to enter politics by the late Lord Spicer.

Ms Campbell previously stood in the Birmingham Selly Oak seat in 2019, where she came second to Labour’s Stephen McCabe.
