Julie Marson: Conservative HQ reticent about vote to save Hertford and Stortford MP’s career

Conservative Campaign Headquarters (CCHQ) is keeping tight-lipped about a ballot to reselect Hertford and Stortford MP Julie Marson as fears about the vote’s legitimacy grow.

The poll of all constituency Conservative members was triggered by Mrs Marson herself when a selection committee of local Tory top brass voted 8-7 to reject her request to be adopted once again as the party’s next General Election candidate.

Rather than stepping down because she has lost the confidence of the local party’s executive, she wants the rank and file to save her with a virtual vote.
